Jesús López-Peláez Casellas, PhD (b. 1967) is Full Professor in English at the Universidad de Jaén (Spain), where he currently teaches English Literature at Bachelor and Master's level. Prof. López-Peláez has conducted research as a Fellow Resident at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC (2010 and 2016), and as a visiting scholar at Arizona State, Michigan State and Penn State Universities (1993, 1997, 2005). He has been Research Project Manager of the R+D Project (‘Proyecto I+D)') ‘Muslims, Spaniards and Jews in Early Modern English Texts: The Construction of the Other' (http://www.ujaen.es/investiga/strangers) (2010-2013), and currently co-manages another R+D Project on Thomas More and Spain (2018-21).
Prof. López-Peláez is the author of Honourable Murderers (Frankfurt: Peter Lang, 2009), the editor of Strangers in Early Modern English Texts (Frankfurt: Peter Lang, 2011), and has co-authored (with Nieves Pascual) Otras narrativas: una aproximación a la literatura popular anglo-norteamericana (Jaén: Servicio de Publicaciones, 1998), and co-edited and translated (with Primavera Cuder) the Elizabethan play Lust's Dominion (Frankfurt: Peter Lang, 2019). He has also published several journal articles and book chapters appearing in, among others, Studies in Philology, Studia Neophilologica, Journal of World History, Nordic Journal of English Studies, Heidelberg Winter, ATLANTIS, SEDERI Yearbook, Miscelánea and Rodopi.
Prof López-Peláez Casellas is the current Chair of the English Department at the Universidad de Jaén and the HUM 271 Research Group Manager, as well as a Corresponding Member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE, New York).
